Whatever way you choose to enjoy the game, including by not watching any of it, still begs the question — why do we love to predict, or attempt to predict, outcomes?
Question: What’s the value of predictions? More specifically, as leaders of companies & teams, do predictions matter to you?
Here’s my sense of how to use predictions. Predictions:
- Prepare us mentally and emotionally for potential outcomes
- Prepare us to be able to speak to trends or themes
- Help us tie threads across different relevant issues
- Allow companies and leaders to define the future instead of being defined by it
My Super Bowl Predictions:
1. 2 Rocket Mortgage commercials
2. Tom Brady will be great
3. Chiefs win…31–28
1. Real estate commissions — transparent & tech driven to scale & perhaps $0
2. ESG — green; home ownership as social impact; “Housing as infrastructure”
3. M&A; consolidation; partnerships as joint venture –
- Incumbents getting threatened
- Incumbents getting bigger to compete
- Innovation & Creative new possibilities
